Jury to continue deliberations in Urantsetseg Tserendorj murder trial

Summary

The jury in the trial of a 16‑year‑old boy charged with the murder of Mongolian national Urantsetseg Tserendorj will continue deliberations for a third day. The jury, composed of six men and six women, has requested transcripts of evidence from Ms Tserendorj's husband, Ulambayer Surenkhor, and from Ms Tayo Odelade, whom the accused attempted to rob on the night of the stabbing. Judge Tony Hunt informed the jury that transcripts of the evidence and the closing statements would be provided, but a transcript of his own directions was not yet available; he would give a verbal recap and supply the written transcript later. He explained two possible routes to a guilty verdict: one requiring proof of intent to kill or cause serious injury, and another where the act could have resulted in death or serious injury. Urantsetseg Tserendorj pleaded not guilty.
