Gardai saw Dublin murder accused dispose of clothing on same day of shooting, trial hears

Summary

In a murder trial, the jury heard that DNA matching the accused, Keith O'Neill, was found on clothing that smelled of petrol, which he was seen disposing of on the same day a man was shot dead. O'Neill, 39, from Lissadell Drive, Drimnagh, pleaded not guilty to the murder of John Wilson on 28 September 2012 at Wilson's home on Cloverhill Road, Ballyfermot. Detective Garda Ronan Doolan testified that he saw O'Neill place two JD Sports bags into a skip on that day, and that one bag contained clothing with a petrol smell. Sergeant Paul Curtis confirmed that the bags held a pair of Nike Airmax runners, blue jeans, a green t‑shirt and two receipts dated 28 September 2012. Dr Emily Jordan of the Forensic Science Laboratory reported that DNA from the inside of the front jeans pockets matched O'Neill's DNA.
