Loyal Sequeria, 28, of Cypress Garth, Templeogue, Dublin, pleaded guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to unlawful possession of a blank‑firing EKOL Firat Magnum 9mm gun and 93 rounds of ammunition, which he had bought over the Internet for protection after a burglary. He also pleaded guilty to stealing an unfinished Irish passport from his workplace, intending to give it to someone for falsification. Garda Enda Dowling found the passport in a camera bag in Sequeria's child's bedroom and the gun and ammunition in the child's wardrobe. Sequeria had one prior road‑traffic conviction. He claimed he was unaware a licence was required for the blank‑firing gun. Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to two and a half years, suspended for two years, and noted it was unlikely he would appear again in court.
