Summary

Philip Nolan, 46, was sentenced by Judge Martin Nolan to a three‑year prison term that was fully suspended. The court ordered him to keep the peace and exhibit good behaviour for three years. Nolan was living in the family home on Fairlawn Road, Finglas, when 18‑year‑old Craig Palmer, a refuse collector with Oxigen, was on duty. Nolan approached the bin lorry, complained that his rubbish had not been collected, and after the driver confirmed that Nolan's address was not on the collection list, he returned with a revolver. He then handed a bullet to Palmer and demanded that Palmer give it to the driver, threatening the bin man. Nolan had pleaded guilty to intimidation and production of a revolver on 27 December 2012. He has 30 prior convictions, including a six‑year jail term in 1988 for serious bodily harm.
