Man who raped and sexually abused his daughters over an 18-year period to be sentenced later
Summary
A 50‑year‑old Tipperary man was found guilty of 75 charges of sexually abusing and raping his four daughters between 1994 and 2012. He pleaded not guilty to 44 charges, including 37 counts of raping his eldest daughter, one count of anal rape of that daughter, one count of oral rape of her younger sister, and one charge of threatening to kill his youngest daughters. The judge directed a not‑guilty verdict on three charges. The eldest daughter, now 29, said she was first abused at nine, raped at eleven, and anally raped at fourteen before escaping to England at seventeen. The second daughter, now 27, was abused from ten to just before fourteen and claimed forced oral sex. The third daughter, now 24, was assaulted from eleven to thirteen and reported a threat to kill her sisters. The youngest, 15, was abused four times in summer 2012.
