DJ jailed for five years for €1.5 million cannabis possession

Summary

James Slattery, a 33‑year‑old disc jockey from Carrig Court, Citywest, was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in trafficking €1.5 million worth of cannabis into Ireland. He met a lorry driver, Istvan Bogdan, in Blanchardstown, Dublin, who had just brought 78 kg of cannabis from the Netherlands. While Slattery was transferring a third of the drugs into his car, Gardaí conducting a surveillance operation moved in.
