Trial of Cork man accused of IRA membership adjourned
Summary
The Special Criminal Court adjourned the trial of Kevin Power, a 38‑year‑old from Passage West, charged with membership of the Irish Republican Army (IRA). Power had been granted bail in May 2013 and was due to stand trial on 18 March 2015. The State, represented by Vincent Heneghan BL, applied for an adjournment, a request that Paul Coffey SC, Power's counsel, acknowledged and consented to. Judge Paul Butler set the next hearing for 14 April and noted the court would address a principle raised by the State regarding the adjournment.
