"This is out of American History X": Witness tells murder trial that accused stamped on deceased's head
Summary
During a Waterford murder trial, 21‑year‑old Gavin Walsh testified that William Moran, the accused, stamped 22‑year‑old Martin Brophy's head with a Timberland boot while shouting "This is out of American History X." Walsh described how Moran had dragged Brophy, kicked and stamped him six or seven times, and then dropped a brick on his head, causing blood to spatter. Walsh said he tried to stop Moran, who pushed him away, and that Moran later threatened to hit Brophy three more times with the brick. Walsh also recounted that Moran called his cousin Ray Connolly, laughed on the phone, and later burned two jackets. The testimony was given before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury of four women and eight men. The accused remains on trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin. William Moran pleaded not guilty.
