Spanish man jailed for importing cannabis concealed in his body
Summary
David Bersabe, a 38‑year‑old Spanish national, was sentenced to three years in prison after authorities discovered almost €8,000 of cannabis resin concealed in his body at Dublin Airport on 1 April 2014. Garda Kevin Nolan noted Bersabe had already passed 18 drug pellets before being arrested and spent the night in hospital passing the remainder. Bersabe pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court and admitted he intended to sell half of the stash in Ireland and the rest in Austria. He had a prior 2011 conviction for importing 78 pellets of cannabis resin into Ireland.
