Guinness delivery workers signed declaration on unscheduled keg delivery

Summary

The Workplace Relations Commission heard that Guinness delivery workers signed a joint declaration that unscheduled keg deliveries were common and continued after 15 colleagues were dismissed. Eleven dismissed workers, including Stanislav Gradinaru, have lodged unfair dismissal claims against STL Logistics, Diageo's subcontractor. The dismissal followed covert surveillance by Diageo security at a Dublin pub, where the company alleged unscheduled, undocumented deliveries between December 2018 and February 2019. HR consultant Brendan McGrath said 20 such deliveries were observed and 70 customers interviewed, none explaining why Guinness trucks stopped at the pub. Gradinaru admitted an unscheduled drop on 15 February 2019, claiming it was at another pub's request, but denied any breach of duty. The adjudicating officer noted his evidence was clear and complete, and a decision on all 11 claims is expected later this year.
