Barry Fowler, aged 37, of Millbrook Lawns, Tallaght, Dublin, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment for supplying drugs after he had recently finished serving a seven‑and‑a‑half‑year sentence for possession of drugs and a submachine gun. On 24 May 2021, Garda surveillance in Tallaght led to Fowler and a co‑accused being monitored. The co‑accused was seen placing an item into a car boot before driving off in a taxi; Fowler was seen taking the car keys and attempting to discard them before being arrested. Gardaí searched the vehicle and found a bag containing €134 000 worth of cannabis. Fowler pleaded guilty to possession of the drugs. He had completed a conflict‑resolution course while in prison and had received letters of support from friends, family and his employer. His sister noted his ongoing battle with cocaine addiction and mental health issues.
