Man harassed ex with over 300 messages in two weeks
Summary
In a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court hearing, a 34‑year‑old woman testified that her former partner, aged 41, sent her more than 300 messages over two weeks in January 2021, describing the harassment as having "destroyed the best part of me." The accused accessed the victim's email via her son's tablet while the children were with him, found sexual images and a picture of another man, and called her at 1.30 am to accuse her of texting another man and sending sexual images. He sent the images he claimed were found on her email, calling her a "slut" and "sleazy." Garda Padraig Guinan reported 300 WhatsApp messages and 34 text messages were sent daily between 14 and 29 January. The accused threatened to send the images to the victim's close family. He was blocked on WhatsApp but continued to text her on another messenger app. The unnamed 34-year-old pleaded guilty.
