'Bizarre escapade' over noisy dog sees man jailed for threatening to kill neighbour

Summary

In a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court case, Christopher Lambe, 32, pleaded guilty to threatening to kill Ms Julie Piggot. On 24 January 2021, Ms Piggot was awakened at 5 am by a banging on a downstairs window. She saw a man in a woollen hat, thought it was her partner, and after checking on her children, opened the front door. Lambe grabbed her from the doorway, pressed something into her side, and forced her across the road to an unfamiliar apartment. While she knocked on the door, Lambe shouted that he would stab her and then fled. CCTV footage identified Lambe and captured him saying, "I will cut the neck of ya." Gardaí arrested him at Tallaght Garda Station. He had 86 prior convictions. The judge, Martin Nolan, noted his remorse and family background but sentenced him to 18 months in prison, citing the threat and the influence of alcohol. The case remains at the sentencing stage.
