Jury to enter fourth day of deliberations in gang rape trial
Summary
The jury in the Central Criminal Court trial of four men accused of raping and sexually assaulting a 17‑year‑old girl in a car will continue deliberating into a fourth day. The alleged assault began on 27 December 2016 when the girl, separated from friends after a night‑out, entered a car with five men. The car travelled along backroads to a remote location where three defendants, and a fifth man not on trial, allegedly raped her one after another. The girl said she asked to be let out of the car but was ignored, and that one man raped her again while a fourth man forced his penis into her mouth. The defendants, aged between 17 and 19 at the time, deny all charges. The jury has deliberated for a little over eight hours since Monday afternoon, after 19 days of trial.
