Solicitor tells trial she never acted for Michael Lynn in €5.5m Howth property purchase
Summary
During a multi‑million euro theft trial, solicitor Fiona McAleenan testified that she never represented Michael Lynn in the purchase of a €5.5 million Howth property known as Glenlion. She denied signing an application for a €3.85 million loan for the property and claimed her signature on a March 2007 letter to Bank of Scotland Ireland was forged. McAleenan said she had never seen the letter until it was shown to her in court and that she had never sent an email to National Irish Bank in February 2007 that purportedly stated she was acting independently of Lynn. She also denied any conversation with former National Irish Bank lawyer Michael O'Malley and denied that she had authorized any signatures on documents. The trial, presided over by Judge Martin Nolan, continues with Lynn pleading not guilty to 21 theft counts involving several financial institutions.
