Murder accused told gardai he saw attack victim days before his death
Summary
During a Central Criminal Court hearing, Feri Anghel, a 42‑year‑old Romanian office cleaner, denied murdering Ioan Artene Bob, a 49‑year‑old construction worker. Anghel, who had no fixed abode, was arrested five days after Bob's body was found in Sean Walsh Park, Tallaght, on 13 April 2018. In a police interview on 18 April, Anghel described Bob as a "good guy" who often shook hands and saluted people, noting he was a heavy drinker. Anghel claimed he last saw Bob the week before the murder, at a group meal near the GPO where Bob had been handing out free food. Anghel said he had never spoken to Bob personally and that he and Bob had never gone out together. He also explained that he earned €550‑€600 a week cleaning offices and sent most of his wages back to his family in Romania. Feri Anghel pleaded not guilty.
