Trial of Romanian man accused of murdering fellow national to resume next week

Summary

The Central Criminal Court will resume the trial of Feri Anghel, 42, who denies murdering fellow Romanian Ioan Artene Bob, 49, found severely beaten in Sean Walsh Memorial Park, Tallaght, on 13 April 2018. Bob was discovered by a woman walking her dog, had severe bruising and "raccoon eyes", and died that afternoon after treatment at Tallaght Hospital. The shortened sitting focused on chain‑of‑evidence witnesses and gardaí who secured the scene and photographed items. Prosecution witnesses were absent and will attend next week. Bob had won €2‑3,000 at a city‑centre casino before sending the money to Romania; he had been attacked, suffered multiple rib fractures, collapsed lungs, and global brain damage. Witness Marzana Jurzak reported Bob's attempt to communicate that four attackers had struck him. The case will be heard by Mr Justice Paul Burns with a jury of eight men and four women at Court 22. Feri Anghel pleaded not guilty.
