Seventh man admits role in Kinahan plot to kill 'Mago' Gately
Summary
Martin Aylmer, 35, of Casino Park, Marino, Dublin 3, pleaded guilty to taking part in a Kinahan cartel plot to murder James 'Mago' Gately, an associate of the Hutch gang, while Gately was in Northern Ireland from 7 September 2016 to 6 April 2017. The offence is charged under Section 72(1)(A) of the Criminal Justice Act 2006. Aylmer admitted that he participated with knowledge of the criminal organisation and with the intention of helping the cartel carry out the murder. Mr Justice Tony Hunt adjourned sentencing to 27 April and ordered a governor's report from Mountjoy prison. The plot involved tracking devices and an Estonian hitman, Imre Arakas, who was later jailed for six years. Gately had previously survived a shooting attempt in May 2017. The case remains pending sentencing.
