Fish jailed for witness intimidation

Summary

Karl Fish, 28, of Ashgrove, The Coombe, was convicted of intimidating witness Matthew McMahon in a 2011 trial at the Criminal Courts of Justice. Fish allegedly approached McMahon at the turnstiles after lunch, stared at him and shouted, "You better not come back here after lunch." McMahon reported feeling a nervous wreck, constantly looking over his shoulder, and his family expressed similar anxiety. Fish was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment, backdated to 22 February 2014. The judge ordered that he have no contact with the injured party. Fish, who has a history of epilepsy and a brain haemorrhage six years ago, accepted the verdict and apologized. He intends to pursue Life Line Recovery help and has been free of benzodiazepines for several months. The sentence was imposed by Judge Patricia Ryan. Karl Fish pleaded not guilty.
