Irish sex offender told to 'go live in a tent', extradition appeal hears

A man from Crossmolina, County Mayo, has appealed his extradition to the United States, where he faces allegations of breaching bail conditions related to a previous conviction for attempting to entice a child for indecent purposes. Martin Jude Wall, aged 46, was convicted in Georgia in 2012 after pleading guilty to sending explicit images to what he believed was a thirteen-year-old girl during an undercover police operation. He subsequently fled to Ireland while on probation. The High Court ordered his extradition in October last year. "This is not a case where the appellant would be required to live in tent," he said. "The likely outcome in this case is that he would receive a period of detention." Judgment has been reserved.; Wall, who was remanded in custody last November, later launched an appeal against Mr Justice Burns' decision, claiming the judge failed "to carry out any further analysis as to whether the appellant would be subject to inhumane and degrading treatment" on his return to the US.
