Summary

A 53‑year‑old Kenyan woman, Grace Miano, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the murder of 27‑year‑old Malawian man Limbani 'Robert' Mzoma at Tudor Lawns, Foxrock, on 1 November 2018. She told the court that she killed Mzoma to "protect Prince William" and cut off his genitals after death "to protect women". The prosecution presented evidence that Mzoma died from blunt‑force and stabbing injuries, with post‑mortem wounds to the head, neck and genital area. Human remains were found in the kitchen sink. Miano's defence argued she suffered a schizoaffective disorder and did not know her actions were wrong. The trial is before Mr Justice Paul McDermott with a jury of five women and seven men, and the prosecution seeks a special verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity under Section 5 of the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act.
