Martin Gilsenan, 50, of Kilwarden Court, Boot Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for allowing his apartment to be used by a gang to store over €800,000 worth of drugs. He pleaded guilty on 16 October 2018 to possessing cannabis resin, cannabis herb and cocaine for sale and supply at his home. Gardaí, acting on confidential information, observed a courier van unloading boxes into the flat and seized large quantities of cocaine and cannabis, a weighing scale and a cutting agent. Gilsenan admitted he was "in it to clear a debt" and was described as a vulnerable person with alcohol addiction and mental health difficulties. The judge accepted mitigating factors and suspended the final three years of the sentence, imposing a year's probation supervision upon release. The case was heard before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court by Judge Karen O'Connor.
