Summary
Robert Lawless, 42, shared a home with his mother and brother when Gardaí searched it under a warrant. The search uncovered 65 separate cocaine deals and cash of €605 and €105. Lawless admitted responsibility for the drugs. During the raid, 18 callers attempted to buy cocaine. A month later, a second raid found more drugs. Lawless pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine worth €1,440 on 15 January 2020 and €1,960 on 16 February 2020, and had prior convictions for drug possession. Judge Melanie Greally, after hearing evidence, sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment for the January offence, suspending the entire term on strict conditions, and adjourned sentencing for the February offence to 21 July 2022. She ordered an updated probation report and noted that if a "resounding report" of engagement is produced, she might adopt a similar approach.
