During a trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Michael Murray, 50, faced charges of threatening to kill two barristers, Dominic McGinn SC and Tony McGillicuddy BL, who had prosecuted him for rape in 2013. He also allegedly harassed them by advertising them as prostitutes online. Murray denied all allegations. McGillicuddy recounted a 43‑second call from a blocked number on 9 February 2015, claiming it threatened his life. He immediately called Gardaí and McGinn. Murray's former defence solicitor, who could not be named, testified that she received suspicious texts and discovered ads containing her name and number. Garda Sergeant Gary Farrell reported that forensic analysis of a seized Samsung Galaxy S3 phone, found in Murray's possession, revealed deleted call logs and 112 references to BackPage.com, where ads listed McGinn's phone number. The case will proceed tomorrow before Judge Karen O'Connor and a jury. Michael Murray was convicted.
