Summary

The Special Criminal Court trial of Alan O'Brien, Darren Redmond, Luke O'Reilly, and an unnamed man referred to as YZ continues before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and two other judges. All four accused have pleaded not guilty to the alleged false imprisonment and intentional causing of serious harm to Quinn Industrial Holdings director Kevin Lunney on September 17, 2019. The prosecution alleges that the men abducted Mr Lunney, assaulted him, and forced him to resign as a director. During testimony, Sergeant Fergal McDonagh stated he mediated between YZ and local gardai in May 2019 after YZ complained of harassment. Sgt McDonagh also testified that YZ provided a phone number ending in 717, which the prosecution links to the deceased Cyril McGuinness, who allegedly instructed the accused. The court viewed CCTV footage of vehicles allegedly used in the offences, including a silver Renault Kangoo and a black Audi A4. The trial is ongoing and was adjourned to continue on Monday.
