Boy who alleges rape at hands of father and others tells trial he was given pills

Summary

During a Central Criminal Court hearing, an 11‑year‑old boy testified that he was given pills by his parents to help him sleep, claiming this occurred "every second night" and that he felt "a bit strange" after taking them. He also alleged that his father, a 48‑year‑old man, and a 27‑year‑old man had all anally raped him when he was eight. The boy said his parents, grandmother, aunts, uncles and other relatives were accused of sexual abuse and wilfully neglecting children. The accused, aged 27 to 57, live in various parts of Munster. The father, aged 56, and mother, aged 34, have pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, exploitation and neglect. The trial continues before Mr Justice Paul McDermott and a jury.
