Dubliner who assaulted man in jealous rage gets five years
Summary
A 25‑year‑old Dublin man, Ross O'Leary, pleaded guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to entering a house on East Road, East Wall, Dublin 3 with intent to assault and to assaulting John Shannon on 1 October 2011. O'Leary used a small knife, struck Shannon, who defended himself, and then fled. Gardaí were alerted and Shannon was taken to hospital, where he spent 14 days, including intensive care, and suffered a fractured skull, lacerations, seizures and ongoing medication.
