Mongolian man paid life savings for false naturalisation cert

Summary

Surenkhor Ulambayar, a 49‑year‑old Mongolian national, paid €25,000 for a forged naturalisation certificate and used it to apply for an Irish passport. The passport application was rejected after the Passport Office discovered the certificate was false. Ulambayar recovered about €7,300 of the money when the application was denied. He pleaded guilty to providing false documentation in November 2015. The court found the €25,000 came from the sale of a home in Mongolia.
