Jury finds man guilty of killing estranged wife's partner

Summary

Anthony Paget, 46, was found guilty of murder after stabbing Aidan McMenamy seven times in the early hours of 19 July 2019. The killing followed a confrontation over Paget's estranged wife, Candice, who claimed McMenamy had become jealous and attacked Paget. During the dispute, McMenamy allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Paget, who then fled outside where he stabbed McMenamy to death. The jury heard that McMenamy suffered seven stab wounds, including one to the neck and six to the back, and viewed CCTV footage of the fight. Paget had pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter. The jury, after two days of deliberation, returned a unanimous verdict of guilty of murder. Paget will be sentenced to life imprisonment.
