Summary
Elmir Habibovic, 31, of Woodvale Avenue, Hartstown, Dublin 15, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possessing €25,500 worth of cocaine for sale or supply on 19 April 2018. He admitted holding the drugs for about five days to clear a €15,000 gambling debt, claiming he was "messing with money" and trying to make money from gambling. The cocaine was found in a drawer on a dining table, along with almost €6,000 in three envelopes in his bedroom. Habibovic and a second man were arrested, but he took full responsibility for the drugs. He has 11 prior convictions for public order and road traffic offences, all dealt with in the District Court, and has not offended since July 2009. Judge Elma Sheahan remanded him on continuing bail pending sentence, adjourned the case to January, and noted he is a self‑employed personal trainer who will need time to get his affairs in order.
