Summary

In the Central Criminal Court, Laura Lambe, sister of David Fortune, testified that her brother was hallucinating and "possessed" after taking many tablets before stabbing their father, Gerard Fortune, on 19 August 2018. Lambe described the morning as a chaotic scene in the house's shed, where David, his friend, and her brother Gerard drank beer and cocaine while David took tablets. She recalled David becoming paranoid, arguing, and claiming he would kill someone, though no one was behind the television. When their father tried to calm him, David shouted, "Da, I'm going to die," and then swung a knife. Lambe stood between David and their father, saw the father fall, and heard him scream. The father was rushed to hospital and died shortly after. The trial continues. David Fortune pleaded not guilty.
