Garda Brian Griffin said enquiries led to the discovery of nearly €140,000 worth of cannabis plants, plant materials and herb in a house that had been vacant since December 2014 and rented out on a short‑term basis. Kenny's fingerprints matched those found in the house, and the garda argued that the operation was "hands on" with no evidence of a superior. The court heard the house was "destroyed" and that the cost to fix it was substantial. Judge Pauline Codd sentenced Kenny to five years, suspending the final two years on conditions, after noting his guilty plea, family circumstances and the high value of the drugs as aggravating factors.
