Summary

Philip Dunbar, aged 20, pleaded not guilty to the murder of 23‑year‑old Adam 'Floater' Muldoon, who was found stabbed 183 times in Butler Park, Tallaght, on 22 or 23 June 2018. Dunbar told Gardaí he had taken 15 "upjohn" tablets and had been hearing voices for weeks, which sometimes urged him to harm himself. He claimed he could not remember the stabbing, describing it as a blank moment, and said he would never have killed Muldoon in a sober mind. Dunbar admitted he had been "chilling" with a friend the day before and that he had helped Muldoon over a wall before an argument. He also stated he had thrown the knife into a body of water in Sean Walsh Park. The trial is proceeding before Mr Justice Paul McDermott with a jury of eleven.
