Chicken roll robber is jailed
Summary
Sean Rausch, aged 22, was sentenced to a four‑year prison term for two robberies and false imprisonment committed on Wellington Quay and Aston Quay in February 2020. The first robbery involved a 19‑year‑old Latvian student who described Rausch holding a knife close to his face and threatening him. The second robbery targeted another 19‑year‑old man who, after being threatened, bought a chicken fillet roll and a soft drink for Rausch. Rausch claimed he was hungry and had been seeking help from passers‑by, which he said had been ignored. He pleaded guilty and wrote an apology letter to the court. Judge Karen O'Connor suspended the final year of the sentence on the condition that Rausch engage with the Probation Service and a victim awareness programme. Rausch has no prior convictions.
