Roofer stored heroin in attic

Summary

Graham Lynch, a 41‑year‑old roofer from Castlecurragh Vale, Mulhuddart, was remanded on bail pending sentence after police found almost €40,000 worth of heroin in his home. Gardaí discovered a small amount in the sitting room and bedroom and, upon searching the attic, uncovered more heroin hidden behind insulation. Lynch admitted in a Garda interview that he was storing the drugs for others, describing himself as a "cog in the machine of supply." He had been abusing cocaine and had built up a drug debt, which he said had pressured him into storing the heroin for two or three weeks. Lynch pleaded guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 20 August 2019 to possession of heroin for sale or supply at his home. He has six prior convictions for minor road traffic offences. The judge adjourned the case to 6 November, ordering a probation report and urine analysis.
