Armed robber chased off with step ladder, tasered
Summary
Jamie O'Rourke, aged 26, was sentenced to four years in prison for two offences: an attempted robbery of a Centra store in Swords and a robbery of a tanning salon in the same town on 26 August 2019. The Centra incident involved O'Rourke, armed with a knife, attempting to rob the shop while the owner chased him out with a step ladder. Gardaí were called to the salon after O'Rourke fled the Centra store and demanded money from the salon assistant, taking €156 in cash. He was apprehended shortly after by the Armed Response Unit, who tasered him and followed the taser wire to a bush where he was hiding. O'Rourke pleaded guilty to both counts and has 36 prior convictions, including robbery and attempted robbery.
