State drops washing powder charges
Summary
The State has withdrawn the charges against David Galloway, 54, of Crumlin, Dublin, who had been tried in February for alleged trademark offences involving washing powders such as Persil, Ariel, Fairy, Daz and Bold. Galloway had pleaded not guilty to seven counts of unlawful trademark application to buckets and fourteen counts of possession of trademarked buckets, labels and boxes, mainly said to have occurred at Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole on 7 June 2014. After a jury failed to reach a verdict and a prior hearing collapsed, the prosecution requested a nolle prosequi, which Judge Martin Nolan granted, ending the case.
