'Good-natured' delivery driver robbed after giving brothers lift

Summary

Two brothers, Brian (21) and Martin Stokes (18), were sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after they robbed a pizza delivery driver, Paul Wright, on November 21, 2019. The robbery took place on Wellmont Road, Finglas, where the brothers had been given a lift by Wright. While driving the brothers to an address, one of them forced Wright to hand over his money, leading to a physical assault that left Wright with a black eye, a swollen jaw and a severe headache. The brothers stole €150 in cash, a mobile phone, car keys and a wallet with bank cards. They were later stopped on Finglas Road, found in possession of the stolen cards, and resisted arrest. Both pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, and were sentenced by Judge Martin Nolan, who described the robbery as "particularly nasty.".
