Man allegedly disrupting plans to use Citywest complex for Covid-19 victims
Summary
In March 2020 the owners of the Citywest Complex obtained a temporary High Court injunction against Mr Donal Burns, who holds a lease for a suite in the Golf Hotel Building. The injunction was sought because Burns allegedly disrupted the HSE's plans to use the complex as an isolation and step‑down facility for Covid‑19 patients. The two firms, Cape Wrath Hotel Unlimited and Alva Glen Land Developments Ltd, had entered contracts with the HSE to renovate the Golf Hotel and other parts of Citywest for this purpose. Burns had reportedly entered the site during lockdown and claimed he intended to move his elderly mother into the suite, an action that the lease forbids. The court, hearing only the plaintiffs' case, granted the injunction ex‑parte, prohibiting Burns from entering the complex or occupying the suite, and set a hearing for 21 April. The judge allowed Burns to apply to lift the injunction with 48‑hour notice.
