Summary

Mark Capper, 31, of Cappagh Green, Finglas, pleaded guilty in the Special Criminal Court to aiding a Criminal Organisation in a plot to murder Patrick "Patsy" Hutch between 1 February and 10 March 2018. Capper admitted knowledge of the organisation and participation in activities that would facilitate the murder, including providing or moving motor vehicles, repairing vehicles, conducting reconnaissance, and planning the shooting. He entered a guilty plea on a full facts basis, which the court accepted as sufficient to meet the case. Justice Tony Hunt remanded Capper to appear again on 11 May for sentencing. Five other men—Michael Burns, Ciaran O'Driscoll, Patrick Curtis, Stephen Curtis, and Mohammed Smew—were also charged with conspiracy to murder Hutch and other offences, and their cases were adjourned for seven weeks, with custody production orders for their next appearance on 18 May. The court allowed each accused to apply for an earlier date if needed.
