Summary

David Masterson, aged 54 and from Tallaght, was sentenced to seven and a half years' imprisonment for defiling three under‑age girls between February and December 2016, and for possession and distribution of child pornography in November 2015. He met the girls through a teenage boy who had recruited them online for paid sexual experiences. One victim, 16, had a sexual relationship with Masterson from February 2016 until December of that year, with multiple encounters confirmed by the detective. The other two girls were 15 and 16 at the time of the encounters. Masterson pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The judge, Martin Nolan, described his behaviour as gross, refused to suspend any portion of the sentence, and backdated it to the time Masterson entered custody in September 2017.
