Four women sexually assaulted near Connolly Station in "spree"

Summary

Macica Firea, 58, a father of six with no fixed abode, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment for sexually assaulting four women in a series of incidents that took place on July 10 near Connolly Station and on Commons Street in Dublin. He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the assault of three women on Amiens Street and a fourth on Commons Street. Garda Aisling Gralton recounted that on the morning of the offences a woman was walking to work when Firea grabbed her vagina; she pushed him away. A second woman on Commons Street felt a hand behind her, and Firea laughed, gestured at digital penetration, and grabbed her buttocks. A third woman at a bus stop near Connolly Station was also assaulted, and a fourth woman on the station escalator was approached with an attempt to put a hand under her skirt.
