Summary
In March 2019 a robbery at Fernwood Avenue, Tallaght, involved Alan McHugh (39) and two accomplices who targeted Wojciech Gajoch, who was selling a 14‑carat gold necklace. The men approached Gajoch, one holding a knife, and surrounded him. Gajoch was struck on the head, and the men fled after taking the keys. McHugh pursued, brandishing the knife and threatening Gajoch, who managed to seize the knife and bring McHugh to the ground. The accomplices then drove a car at the two men, running over McHugh's foot. The car left without McHugh, and the necklace was never recovered. McHugh pleaded guilty to robbery, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment with the final 18 months suspended, and was released on strict conditions.
