Further jail time for inmate caught with drug-filled Kinder Suprise

Summary

Patrick Morgan, 33, of Kilbarron Avenue, Kilmore, Dublin, was found in Mountjoy Prison on 6 April 2016 with Kinder Surprise Eggs that contained cannabis and heroin. He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of cannabis and heroin for sale or supply. Garda Daniel Keaney reported that Morgan was under the influence of an intoxicant when he was searched, and that the search revealed a number of Kinder Surprise Eggs, one of which burst open to reveal cannabis, and others that had been stored internally but were removed. The eggs contained €468 of heroin and €656 of cannabis. Morgan is already serving a five‑year sentence for dangerous driving that caused the death of jogger Karl Robertson in 2017, with a scheduled release in February 2022.
