Woman tells jury of facing gunman in her garden
Summary
In a trial held on 18 November 2019, Fiona Mitchell testified that on 26 May 2018 she was in her garden when a man named Robert Lawlor, whom she recognised from social media, appeared at her patio door holding a gun. Mitchell said she heard two gunshots as she fled, locked the kitchen door, and ran to her neighbour's house where she hid. She described seeing two men on a wall outside her home, but confirmed only one man was in her garden and house. Mitchell also stated that her German Shepherd, Chopper, was shot dead that night. She claimed to have heard a threat from Lawlor to kill her mother and to "take her out of misery." The case is before Mr Justice Paul McDermott. Robert Lawlor pleaded not guilty.
