Jail for man who pulled gun on sister-in-law

Summary

Robert Glynn, 42, of Knockmore Park, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to threatening to kill and possessing a firearm after pulling a gun on his sister‑in‑law, Suzanne Campbell, during a family dispute. On 10 March, Glynn confronted Campbell's partner outside her home, pointing a black modified handgun at him and threatening to shoot. Campbell pleaded with him not to fire, and he fled. Gardaí found the unloaded, unusable gun under Glynn's mattress. Glynn has 34 prior convictions, mainly traffic offences, plus criminal damage and larceny. He was in custody since March. Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to three years' imprisonment, suspending the final two years on strict conditions and backdating the sentence to his initial custody date. The case was heard in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, with Glynn's defence citing a "moment of madness.".
