Summary
Alex Kane, aged 22, was convicted of a series of arson and trespass offences that caused over €700,000 in damage to two apartment blocks in Dublin. In 2014 he set fires in the underground carparks of Fairhaven and Abbey Glen Apartments, destroying eight cars and forcing the evacuation of both buildings. He also admitted to trespassing and criminal damage at Auburn Lodge Apartments. In 2018 he pleaded guilty to handling stolen property after being found in possession of a stolen cheque and cash. Kane was sentenced to five years in prison for the arson and a consecutive one‑year term for the stolen property charge.
