Summary

The trial of two men accused of raping a student in County Donegal has resumed at the Central Criminal Court following four days of legal argument. Both defendants, aged 29 and 33 and residing in Donegal, have pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape alleged to have occurred in a Donegal town in February 2015. Evidence heard today included testimony from gardaĆ regarding a search of premises where the alleged offences took place. A garda witness described attending the location with a search warrant and finding nobody present. Officers remained at the scene to preserve it. One of the defendants subsequently arrived and identified himself as a resident. He was arrested on suspicion of rape and cautioned, with interviews later recorded on DVD. The trial continues before Mr Justice Alex Owens and a jury.
