Gda Supt said "whistleblower" was part of orchestrated process to damage him
Summary
In a Disclosures Tribunal hearing, Garda Chief Superintendent Nicholas Keogh accused a senior member of the Athlone drugs unit, referred to as Garda A, of being part of an orchestrated campaign to prevent Keogh's promotion. Keogh alleged that Garda A had an improper relationship with a heroin dealer, Ms B, who earned an estimated €2,500 a week. Keogh claimed he suffered bullying from Superintendent Patrick Murray after making a protected disclosure in 2014, and that the investigation by Assistant Commissioner Michael Finn was delayed and obfuscated, damaging his complaint's timely resolution. Keogh wrote letters to Independent TDs Mick Wallace and Claire Daly, the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald, the Policing Authority, and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar opposing Murray's promotion. Superintendent Murray stated that Keogh was "casting aspersions" and that Keogh was part of a process to damage him.
