Drunk criminal claims he couldn't have bitten "good Samaritan" as "he has no teeth"
Summary
Aaron Kiely, 35, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assaulting American tourist Sean Beauchamp on 13 August 2017. Kiely, who has 185 prior convictions, was jailed for 18 months after the court heard Beauchamp suffered injuries to his head, ear, face and arm when a group intervened in a fight between Kiely and his girlfriend. Kiely claimed he could not have bitten Beauchamp because he has no teeth, a statement accepted by the court. The judge noted Kiely was intoxicated on the day of the incident. Beauchamp, who works for an airline, was treated in hospital and later paid €15,000 in medical costs, €11,000 of which was covered by insurance.
